Introducing the Victim

Another important character is Lorena who is the one who gets killed by her own son. Lorena will play the role of a mom because, in reality, she is one. One of the problems that we might encounter with her is that she does not understand english and can not speak it well. In order to fix this, we are going to make a voice-over.

Physical Appearance:
For this film we decided that Lorena should use glasses to make her look more like a mom. Her clothing will have a look of typical mom that works in the house and takes care of her children. Her shoes will be platforms because she is very short.

Introducing the main Character

As I mentioned before the main character is going to be the killer. The real name of the "killer" is Nicholas. Nicholas is good at following directions which makes it easier for us to shoot the scenes and get clever ideas that will actually work. In his free time Nicholas loves to act which means that he is actually enjoying the shooting instead of being bored. Thanks to these qualities we are very motivated and glad to be shooting with him.

Physical Appearance:
Even though Nicholas is seventeen he looks young and that benefit us in a way that he can act as a younger teen so that the film is still creepy. The Mise en scene that Nicholas is going to have  is a black shirt, dark gray pants, black shoes, and to make him look a little younger a red hat.

A Little Twist

Daniela and I decided to use a seventeen year old as the person who kills because we found an actress, Lorena that is old enough to look like a mom. Ezio, the little kid that we had is going to have the role of the little brother in the family even though he won't appear on the scene. The seventeen year old is going to have the roll of a teenager who is going to kill his mom.
We decided to change the story around because the main character is the killer and since Ezio is a little kid he couldn't understand some parts of the scene making it hard for us to keep rolling.

Looking for another actor

After asking several friends in my school that might want to act in our film I found a possible actor that might be willing to act as the person who gets killed. In the beginning Daniela and I wanted that person to be a woman but since I could not find one I have proposed to Daniela that the person could be a man instead. If Daniela agrees with me then we have the actor for the scene.
The man has to look around his thirties and the actor's real age is 17 so we are going to have to use make up and clothes to make him look older. Along with this, we will also use filming techniques to make him look taller.

Perfect Place to Shoot

After visiting several places of where to shoot the film we have decided that it will take place in Fabiana's house. Fabiana's house has a staircase that looks creepy which will be perfect for the opening of the scene. The staircase is a little dark but the viewer can still see everything. Fabiana's house has some props that we can play around with to make the film scary. One of this props is a broken couch.

Tips for Horror Movies

Horror movies are all about style which includes tone, texture, and mood.
Five cinematography tips that one should follow are:
a) Shoot through things
When filming the actor one should include all the context to create a setting. An example of this         could be a person isolated from everyone, by filming the surroundings of the person it emphasizes       more the fact the she is by herself.

b)Underexpose
It creates a more mysterious feeling for the film which is perfect for the Horror genre.

c) Haze
Fog can make the scene a lot better, this trick is always used for most of horror movies since it creates a mysterious mood.
This is only possible with a hazer or Fog machine. In the future if Daniella and I want to use this technique, we will have to ask for someone to lend us the machine since we do not have the necessary funds.

d)Colored Gels
Colored gels work really well for horror films specially red gels since it make the viewer feel unnerved and create a stylized look.

e)Unique Angles
One example for "Unique Angles" is the dutch tilt since it creates an image that looks off balance which creates and unsettling feeling for the viewer. This is perfect since the genre is horror.
